We purchased this Queen Ann Victorian in 2014. As with many of the homes of this age the piers being of cedar tree sections have been exposed to moist ground throughout the years causing the post to rot at ground level. 101 concrete piers were added to replace the failing foundation. She is currently being renovated and added on for a more pleasurable living environment. A few walls have been removed to create an open plan for the kitchen and living area. Closets have been added to the bedrooms and extensive design work was taken to make the closets appear as if they were part of the original design of the house and not look like a dropped in structure compromising the shape of the room. A collection of architectural pieces are being worked into the design. Original transom windows and trim will be reused and where there are additions, transoms and original trim will be recreated to keep the charm of the house looking completely original. Antique white oak tung and groove planks reclaimed from barns in Virginia will be laid as flooring through the home.
